Information for pupils participating in the distance-learning system

Information for pupils participating in the distance-learning system

We would like to remind you of the approaching deadline for the submisison of the first test assignment, which we will await by November 30th. We likewise invite you to familiarise yourselves with the instructions on how to use the e-learning platform designed to help pupils with their studies.

Further weeks of study at the ”National Education Commission” Schools at the Centre for the Development of Polish Education Abroad (ORPEG) are passing by. We are delighted that so many pupils already committed to intramural studies in their local schools have also been ready to take on the extra challenge of Polish-language studies via the distance-learning system.

 Along with their parents or legal guardians, pupils registered at our schools receive login details making it possible for them to participate in the teaching process via the www.orpeg.pl e-learning platform. During the school year, pupils are then obliged to complete test assignments, and to submit them on time via the platform. Completion of all the tasks set plus a positive result in the final classification exam provide the basis for ORPEG’s Pedagogical Council to promote a given pupil to the next class.

 This is a form of study that requires considerable self-discipline on the part of the pupil, as well as a determination to broaden and deepen knowledge, and a capacity to develop skills in making correct use of the mother tongue, i.e. the Polish language.

 The distance-learning system also allows pupils to participate in online consultations ensuring direct contact with ORPEG’s teaching experts. Teachers help pupils to acquire the knowledge needed before assignments are written and classification exams taken. It is also possible for pupils to cooperate with their classmates.

 Each pupil will find his or her own lesson plan on the platform. Lessons are given in: the Polish language, history, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, nature, history and society and early-school education. Lessons are run in a synchronised manner (in real time) or asynchronously (in the form of recorded courses). Detailed information on our e-learning can be obtained by contacting the following ORPEG staff: Ten adres pocztowy jest chroniony przed spamowaniem.  Pupils unable to participate directly in classes may return to given lessons at any time by listening to the recorded versions. If they cannot understand certain aspects of the tasks included within test assignments, or if issues require further explanation by a teacher, or if there are other questions that need answering, this can be done directly during lesson time or else during online duty hours. The timetable for the latter is included on the platform in relation to each stage of the learning process. Teachers of given subjects are there to offer every kind of substantive assistance. Parents and legal guardians can also take a direct look at the register of test assignments, the assessments they have received and the opinions given by the marking teacher. They can also make direct contact with a teacher in the course of the latter’s online duty hours. Information on any technical difficulties should be submitted to: Ten adres pocztowy jest chroniony przed spamowaniem. Aby go zobaczyć, konieczne jest włączenie w przeglądarce obsługi JavaScript. .

We invite all pupils to familiarise themselves with the guidelines concerning the preparation of test assignments.

Before starting with a test assignment, please read the following guidelines carefully,

and make every effort to apply them!

  1. All test assignments are to be done:
    1. In advance of a start being made to any assignment, the chapters in textbooks relevant to it will need to be consulted to the point of familiarity being achieved, with the exercises supplied also completed.
    2. independently – in sending an assignment in for marking, a pupil will need to be aware that each attempt to copy someone else’s work (or work generally available that goes uncited) will be considered to constitute theft and/or plagiarism as and when a source used in developing the work is not given;
    3. legibly – in ballpoint or ink pen, and in such a way that the person marking the assignment is left in no doubt as to what the pupil is seeking to convey (including, for example, which formula from mathematics or physics he/she is seeking to use);
    4. aesthetically – without excessive resort to correction fluid, defacing of text or crossings-out.
  2. In advance of a start being made to any assignment, the chapters in textbooks relevant to it will need to be consulted to the point of familiarity being achieved, with the exercises supplied also completed.
  3. As a start is being made to any assignment, the instructions, subject and remarks regarding assessment should all be read carefully.
  4. Answers should be supplied in line with the instructions given and on the relevant subject.
  5. Answers are to be written into the places provided for them on the test assignment sheet.
  6. Where a given issue requires a more wide-ranging answer for which there is insufficient room on the sheet (as in the cases of, for example, essays in the Polish-language, history, foreign languages and geography) – extra sheets may be used and attached to the test assignment sheet. The assignment should be completed (as necessary on a further sheet) by supplying a bibliography with the titles of sources made use of as the assignment was being written, in line with the following formula:
    • name(s) of author(s)
    • title (and subtitle if relevant)
    • place and year of publication.
  1. Obligations regarding the systematic and timely submission of assignments are to be kept in mind.
